February 08, (TSP Bangla) – Minimum temperatures are set to remain below normal in parts of West Bengal for the next three days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday. After that, the mercury is likely to rise by around two degrees Celsius.
Dry weather is expected to prevail across the state over the next week. However, shallow to moderate fog is likely during the morning hours in most sub-Himalayan districts, the IMD said.
Several places in the state recorded below-normal minimum temperatures in the past 24 hours. Suri reported the lowest temperature in the plains at 10.2 degrees Celsius, which was 3.6 degrees below normal. Kalyani saw the sharpest departure from normal, with the minimum settling at 10.5 degrees Celsius, four degrees below average.
Jhargram and Kalaikunda recorded minimum temperatures of 12.4 degrees Celsius each, while Barrackpore and Bankura both registered 11.3 degrees.
In the hills, Darjeeling recorded a minimum temperature of 4.4 degrees Celsius, which was more than two degrees above normal.
Kolkata recorded a minimum temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius, 2.4 degrees below the seasonal average, the IMD said.
